HOW THE SCAVENGER HUNT WORKS

1. Each team will consist of 4 members. If you participated in the hunt last year, we suggest that you form a new team. You are welcome to choose your own team, or you can put your name in a “pool” of participants and the teams will be selected randomly.

2. Each team can determine independently how they will photograph the 12 items on the list. You can go out and shoot together as a team, each member can shoot each item, or you can break the list up and assign individual team members certain items to shoot on their own. You do NOT need to COLLECT the item...just find and photograph the item on the list! The photograph proves that you found the item!

3. For this activity the rules regarding enhancement/manipulation are the same as for the Assigned, Creative, and Open Categories in our competition.

4. The photographs MUST be taken between June 20, 2024, and September 18, 2024.

5. Each team will submit ONE DIGITAL image for each item on the list. Each team member must have 3 images in the final submission. If a team has fewer members, then the submissions will be split equally.

6. Size dimensions for the digital submissions are the same as for regular competition, with a maximum size of 2160 x 2160 pixels.Use the following naming convention: TeamX_HuntItemName_CreatorName (FirstNameLastName).JPG

example: Team1_Barn_RussBarneveld. jpg

8. Team Submission Deadline for submitting images will be October 2, 2024. JPG images may be sent via email or https://wetransfer.com to: russbarneveld@gmail.com

9. The results will be shown as our program at our October meeting in the form of a slide show and individual “Display Boards”. Images will be shown by TEAM. Club members will then VOTE by ballot on which team they felt most creatively satisfied capturing images of the Scavenger Hunt List. The team receiving the most votes will win a small prize and bragging rights!

10. Have fun, try new things, get creative, and get to know your fellow GRCC members!

NOTES:

Painting with light: A photographic technique that involves moving a light source while taking a long-exposure photograph, either to illuminate a subject or space or to shine light to “draw” by moving the light source or camera itself.

Showing Motion: Ways to Show Motion

  • Long exposure: use a slower shutter speed to show action.

  • Panning: horizontally "scan" a subject as it moves across the frame.

  • Rear Curtain Sync: a mix of both long exposure and panning, with the addition of flash.

  • Camera spinning: spin the camera while taking a photo.

  • Camera tossing: toss the camera while taking a photo.

  • Zooming while shooting, zoom in or out while taking a photo.
