  • SWMCCC Winter Lighthouse Crawl - (New) - January 21, 2012 Last year, Grand Rapids Camera Club arranged a day shoot in conjunction with members of the Mid Michigan Photo Club, but an wintry ice storm prevented the shoot.

    This year, SWMCCC is arranging this same kind of day shoot on January 21, with a storm date of January 22. The idea is to start in St Joe, go to South Haven, and work our way north to Holland and Grand Haven, shooting the ice and snow on the piers and ending up at a location to shoot a nice sunset.

    Clubs may carpool to the first location, which is the St. Joseph lighthouse, to arrive by 9AM, Jan. 21, 2012. Grand Rapids area photographers will meet at 7:30 AM at the Jenison Meijer (east side of store by the Garden Center) to carpool to St. Joseph.

    Plan on a quick lunch stop. Also, plan on a bit of a hike to get to "Big Red" in Holland.

    Please email Cari Weber if you plan to attend - Cari will send you an email just before the shoot for contact info and the meeting location in St. Joe.

  • Ranger Steve Mueller - (New) - Our own Ranger Steve was selected for the Outstanding Senior Interpreter from among NAI professional members in 34 countries. The award was presented at the National Association for Interpretation Conference in Minneapolis MN on November 12, 2011. See the complete announcement here.
  • Know Your Rights: Photographers - The American Civil Liberies Union has several related articles on your rights as a photographer and special considerations when videotaping. They can be found here.
  • Shooters - I would like to take a few moments to tell you about a new opportunity as a member of the GRCC. We have put together an email list called "shooters". The idea behind shooters is to create a forum that will enable people in the club to let each other know about shooting opportunities....Mike Mitchell, VP Programs. Click for details.

Events Calendar Highlights

  • Annual Awards Banquet 2012 - Feb 22, 2012 - We will again enjoy pizza and other good food at our Annual Awards Banquet. Recognition of member achievements in 2011 and the results of our Year End Competition will be featured. This is our only closed monthly meeting and is for club members only. Please note we are meeting on the 4th Wednesday in February. Watch for details!
