December 2017 Meeting (Note DATE Change)

Yosemite in the Fall

When

December 13, 2017 at 07:15 PM

Description

December's Program  (Note the DATE change  ***SECOND Wednesday ***) will feature Mike Schlitt of the Charlevoix Camera Club who will visit GRCC to share some images taken by 12 members of the Charlevoix Photography Club during a trip to Yosemite National Park in the fall of 2016. As artists we know there are many ways to see and/or create a composition. Mike says "It is always exciting for me to see a group of photographers go to basically the same location and come away with so many different images.  We selected this time of the year so that we could get some most unusual skies, and we did!"

The trip to Yosemite was organized as a lead up to the Crooked Tree Art Council's special exhibit of Ansel Adams Masterworks, and their juried competition of National Park images in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the National Parks.  Both exhibits were on display this past summer in Petoskey, MI. The trips to Yosemite was lead by professional photographers and took participants to shoot in the same locations as photography icon, Ansel Adams.

Join us in December to see some beautiful images of one of America's premier National Parks.

REMINDERS: Please note that our December 13, 2017 meeting is ONE WEEK earlier than usual... on the SECOND Wednesday, instead of the 3rd!  December also is our annual holiday finger food potluck, so remember to bring a dish to pass.

Lastly, Guests are always welcome at GRCC meetings, however please  be aware that there is a $5 per person charge for guests and non-members to attend the December 2017 meeting.

MikeSchlitt.jpg#asset:2137After 18 years of owning an automotive-related company in the Detroit area, Mike retired to Charlevoix, Michigan to pursue his passion of nature photography.  Northern Michigan provides an array of summer and winter photographic treasures, as well as his personal favorite, the spectacular color changes in the fall season.  Mike has attended several seminars and workshops led by some of the most dedicated instructors in the photographic field. Photography has changed the way he sees the world. Mike uses very high-end medium format photographic equipment to produce his Photographic Art. Producing Photographic Art requires Tension, Experimentation and pushing of the visual and mental limits, not to mention the physical limits.  Mike’s desire to capture a wide selection of natural wonders has led him to some of the most remote locations in North America, South America, Europe, New Zealand and Africa. Mike was commissioned to provide 13  40”x 60” Canvas Gallery Rap images for the tallest residential building in Michigan, the River House Condominiums in Grand Rapids.  One of Mike’s images was chosen to represent Charlevoix on a billboard add in Time Square. He was a grand prize winner and has placed in several other photography exhibitions in Northern Michigan. Mike’s images have graced the covers of several magazines.
